Gypsy Style Jazz And Turkish Music In Montreal

Kaba Horo is a music band which aims to combine jazz and gypsy style to form, a new and definitely energetic, music style. They were on the stage on 12th of July, as a part of Montreal Jazz Festival.

One of the members of the band is Süleyman Özatilan (Darbuka and vocal) is adding Turkish intesity to this combination and makes it even more original. Özatilan graduated from Izmir 9 Eylul State Conservatory, and worked in State theaters for long years, before coming to Canada. During his time in Canada he performed many shows of Turkish folk dance and even formed young folk dance groups. Before joining Kaba Horo in 2009, he was a part of another music group called 'Djoumbush'.
